I have tried a billion recipes for Rice Krispie treats but this is the one I always come back to. I found it online years ago and I don't even remember who or where I got it from- sorry!! However, I have made it slightly different than the original recipe recently since I find it easier to use whole bags/boxes of things. The best part about these is that they are gooey, soft and amazing. Leona absolutely loves helping in the kitchen too and especially loves to taste test. Keith isn't a big dessert guy but these he can't resist. So you know they are good!
When cutting them, you will question everything. They are so gooey they like to stick together in the pan and never come apart. Be persistent with it, cut each piece a few times in the same place and I promise you will will be worth everything. It is nearly impossible to mess up this recipe; even if they come out of the pan in chunks not rectangles its all about the taste after all! These are definitely not diet friendly of any kind but every once in a while they are totally worth the splurge.
For this batch I topped them with sea salt caramel chips as that's all I had at home but boy did it add an extra deliciousness and flavor to these already amazing treats.
Here's a photo progression of how to make them:
