Our Annual Trip to the Sunflower Field

We started this tradition last year with the kiddos (well I did) and I was absolutely mesmerized by the be beauty and greatness the sunflower field are. This year and last we visited Lannon Sunflower Farm and this year it was was 3 acres. It was 3 acres filled with these flowers that stand so tall and always face the sunlight. In a lot ways I feel like they resemble who I am; a positive person who tries to always look at the bright side of things, a glass half full kinda gal if you will.

How can these flowers stand so tall and always face the light on such a small stalk? Theres something just special about them. If you have ever went and cut them you know that one flower is rather heavy so again just mesmerizing that they stand so tall and strong.

The field we go to had a new attraction this year too. They had a new corn maze for the kids and of course the arial view showed it was in the shape of a sunflower. Additionally there was a butterfly garden with wild flowers galore. I'm also a sucker for some wildflowers if were being honest.

It is an inexpensive thing to do with the family and L had so much fun. As I'm writing this she asked if we could go back. Unfortunately this year we are getting close to being past its prime days but next year for sure kid.

If you've never been, I would highly recommend a trip next year when the blooms are in full swing. Not only is it a beautiful setting to snap a couple pictures of you or your loved ones but the scenery is just stunning!

Keep reading below for some of my favorite quotes about sunflowers:

"Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. Its what sunflowers do." -Helen Keller

“She’s a sunflower, strong and bold and true to herself. Not as lovely as a rose, but also not as fragile.” — Unknown

"In a world full of roses, be a sunflower"

“Advice from a sunflower: be bright, sunny, and positive. Spread seeds of happiness. Rise, shine, and hold your head high.” — Unknown

“A sunflower field is like a sky with a thousand suns.” — Corina Abdulahm-Negura

“A rose can never be a sunflower, and a sunflower can never be a rose. All flowers are beautiful in their own way, and that’s like women too.” — Miranda Kerr

Theres so much to learn about sunflowers. While I understand the world isn't all great and everyone has their bad days, myself included, I think that in every situation there is always a positive. Maybe not always in the moment but there is always something to learn or smile about. People sometimes bash the always positive mentality so I am not saying its all always good. Just think we can learn from sunflowers that if we try to see the light/good we can. ☺️
